About Me
My name is Kelli Maddock, MMT, MT-BC, and I am a Music Therapist-Board Certified. I completed my Master of Music Therapy at Drury University in December 2014. I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Music and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Missouri State University graduating in December of 2010, cum laude. I worked at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County (CACCC) in Plano, TX for my music therapy internship, where I studied under Music Therapist and Internship Director, Tania Cordobés, MMT, MT-BC, NMT from January 2014 to July 2014. At the CACCC, I worked with children and adolescents who have been abused and/or neglected along with their non-offending family members.
I am specifically trained in the use of trauma-focused music therapy and treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder through music therapy. I have also co-lead sessions with other allied health professions and have worked on a multidisciplinary team consisting of law enforcement, social workers, counselors, music therapists, art therapists, child protection services and more. I have experience working with the many different music therapy populations including psychiatric, general wellness, developmental disabilities, crisis interventions, geriatric, and more. Professionally, I was a co-chair on exhibitions and advertising for the American Music Therapy Association's Midwestern Music Therapy Conference in April 2014; I also co-presented on “self-care and disclosure” at the Passages student portion of Midwestern Music Therapy Conference in 2014.
Prior to being a music therapist, I worked for five years in a variety of capacities within agencies in Springfield, Missouri in the homes of adult and children with developmental disabilities. I worked with both dual-diagnosis, intellectual disabilities, and autism. I also served as the Graduate Assistant of Prevention Initiatives for Drury University for one semester under the Counseling Center at Drury University. I have babysat, nannied, taught music lessons, and worked around children since high school. Ironically, I always thought I wanted to work with adults with autism, but it wasn't until I completed practicum working with those in substance abuse recovery, that I found my true calling!

Volunteer History
My volunteer history starts in high school where I helped teach the children's chime choir. I volunteered with my band program during high school and college in a variety of capacities; I am an alumni of Kappa Kappa Psi, which is a co-ed, honorary, service fraternity to college bands. I am also an alumni of the professional music fraternity, Mu Phi Epsilon, where we volunteered as musicians with nursing homes and in other capacities around town. During my graduate equivalency in music therapy, I participated in practicum in music therapy and would volunteer with various music therapy agencies any chance that I could get. Most recently, I have volunteered to play keyboard with the worship band at church and Girls on the Run. I enjoyed both experiences immensely because I love using music within a spiritual means and I enjoy teaching young girls my love for running.
